Voice of the Villiages


Local residents, Vic & Carol Benson, broadcast a weekly radio programme called 'Voice of the Villages' on Swindon 105.5 your local community radio station.   Their programme focuses on the villages and small towns that surround Swindon.     The programme contains a weekly quiz; a mix of music and interviews with local organisations or individuals and a monthly Grow Your Own feature.      Carol & Vic are regular contributors to the BBC Community Radio programme on a Sunday at 5pm – in 2016 the BBC used 59 interviews, 60 if you count a seasonal repeat about Lydiard Turkeys on Christmas day.    
Thursday 27 July (repeated Saturday 29 July)
·        Carol talks to Loretta Walters, one of four Rangers, who between them look after 13 sites within the National Trust’s Wiltshire Landscape. Loretta describes what is involved in being a Ranger and explains some of the wildlife, flora and archaeology that make her sites so special.
·        Vic & Carol explore the wide range of volunteering opportunities offered by the National Trust locally.
Thursday 3 August (repeated Saturday 5 August)
·        Vic talks to farmer, Andy Rumming, about his beef farm located near the Cotswold Water Park.    Andy explains why he chooses to farm on a small scale with an emphasis on good animal welfare producing a high quality grass-fed product.  
·        Carol and Vic bring news of an exciting Summer Archaeological Dig and provide details of how you can keep up to date with progress from the comfort of your armchair or, for hardier souls, how you can visit the site.
