Post Office and Shop
The closure of our local Post Office and Shop last October was a sad loss to many of our parishioners, especially those without transport, the local children, and local businesses that used it.
Early negotiations to re-open failed, despite working hard with a prospective tenant. Since then several prospective tenants have made inquiries, but all have failed to conclude a deal, for many and varied reasons. The Building is now for sale with Estate Agents, rather than Business Agents, and a sign saying 'Sold'has been recently posted.
The next step is to engage the new owner in discussion, when the sale is finalised, to see if there is any help the Parish Plan, or the Parish Council can offer, to help in the re-opening of the business facilities.
Should there be no immediate prospect of a re-opening, then the Parish Plan Topic Group will need to move quickly to find an alternative solution. This could involve finding an alternative site, a volunteer willing to be trained as a Postmaster, and someone willing to organise a Community Shop. There is much information available, but we shall then be urgently seeking willing and able volunteers.
