An Introduction to Lydiard Millicent

All Saints Church Lydiard Millicent

Overview

Lydiard Millicent is a small village and parish in the far North-East corner of Wiltshire, it is part of the District of North Wiltshire, but is close to the western edge of the Borough of Swindon. We fiercely defend our rural status, and are resolutely opposed to becoming part of Swindon.

At the end of 2002, our Parish had 614 dwellings and 1261 electors. Our Parish comprises the village of Lydiard Millicent, the hamlets and areas of Common Platt, Greatfield, Greenhill, Holborn, Lydiard Green, and part of Nine Elms and Washpool.

Local Authorities

Lydiard Millicent is in the County of Wiltshire who have their offices in Trowbridge and is part of the District of North Wiltshire who have offices in Chippenham. This means that whilst North Wilts District council is responsible for refuse collection, and the like, services such as education and transport come under Wiltshire County Council. Our County and District Councillor is Cllr Mrs Mollie Groom.
