The Big Freeze

January 6th 2009.

Manor Hill, the road connecting Lydiard Millicent to Purton, was more akin to a glacier than a country road after temperatures dropped to the lowest recorded for 12 years.
After a series of accidents in very challenging driving conditions, the road was closed to allow the emergency services to recover the stranded motorists. Unfortunately, the conditions proved even too challenging for our boys in blue whose view of the World was promptly inverted! Click here to see the article published on-line in The Sun newspaper which features the scene witnessed and reported by Mollie Groom, our legendary County Councillor.
