Lydiard Millicent Parish Hall
We the Parish Hall Committee would like to give you an update on our refurbishment of the Parish Hall.
In 2004 we installed a new toilet for the disabled plus a ramp upto the Main Hall door.
During 2005 we installed a new kitchen fitted with stainless counter units together with a new commercial gas cooker, boiler for hot water and central heating. The total cost for these items came to £30,192.
We are now planning the refurbishment of the hall itself, toilets, entrance hall and committee rooms and resulting from new legislation we have to install a fire alarm detection system together with improved outside lighting.
From 2nd-7th January 2006 the Parish Hall will be closed to bookings when we will be repainting the whole hall and as much of the rest as labourers, equipment and money will allow.
When the grants for the Fire Alarm and Lighting systems have been approved and granted then we will go-ahead to complete this part of the project. Later in the year, when bookings allow, the Hall floor will be stripped and recoated.
In addition to the above, following a recent fire risk assessment, the stage was deemed to be the area of greatest risk and this situation must remedied. Two fire doors, leading off, the stage area must be installed and all the curtains in the hall have to be fire proofed every two years.
We are an independent registered charity, and therefore dependant upon fund-raising efforts to pay for all these projects that are both of necessity and to conform to the legislation imposed upon us, the Trustees, for the users of the hall.
We do enjoy coffee and mince pies at Christmas, hot cross buns at Easter, Table top sales etc, as the main income earners plus other events so necessary to cover our needs. BUT we need this extra 'push' on behalf of everyone to bring these projects to conclusion.
